What is Wholistic Woman
It all started in July 1989 in Ritzville Washington. My children were young and I started the business, Total Health Center, out of our home. After multiple storefront locations including in Spokane and Long Beach Washington, and several name changes along the way, the store was permanently closed in July 2013, twenty-five years later. However, I found that customers still wanted our loose leaf herbal tea blends that we had made on sight since the 1990s and I wanted to include the Pregnancy & Postpartum Support Tea, Lactation Tea, and the Soothing Soak Tea (previously known as Healing Soak Tea) in my midwifery package for all my clients, so we found a way to continue to produce and sell it to my midwifery practice and to others who wanted it, through word of mouth only. Then in 2023 it was clear it was time to bring Wholistic Woman Tea out of the closet and promote it locally, regionally, and nationally and now we have grown from those few tea formulations to 17, and we are still adding exciting, supportive, and interesting teas to our inventory.
Wholistic Woman is not only here to support and nourish women and their families with our unique tea formulas, but I have now branched off from having a midwifery practice to offer life coaching for women’s health and healing, and coaching for those that want to create, grow, or expand their business.
I think that for too long women and children have been underserved. We know that if women’s needs are met the needs of children and the whole family system are most likely to be met.
Education is essential, thus not only do we make and sell organic loose leaf herbal tea combinations, but I want to share with you what we know and continue to learn. Though I am the founder and leader of Wholistic Woman my goal is to create an organization and environment that meets the needs of our customers, and that of our team of creative partners, and that we see and meet the needs of local, national, and global women and their families whenever we can find ways to do that. We support multiple non-profit organizations that support women and children. Five percent of our sales go to these organizations.
Wholistic Woman is an organization built on the values of integrity, trust, transparency, and authenticity. We think this gives smart creative people a safe place to work, thrive, and collaborate in our shared purpose of supporting and nourishing women and their families. This is more than writing a clever business mission statement. I believe everyone should feel listened to and safe, whether it is our customers, clients, or anyone working with Wholistic Woman in any capacity. I believe that business must have a higher purpose above and beyond the pursuit of making money.
Finally, our Wholistic Woman business is located in Spokane Washington and resides within the traditional homelands of the Spokane People, Coeur d’ Alene Tribe, Kalispel Tribe of Indians, Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, and other tribes who are connected through their shared history of this region. We humbly acknowledge that the land we work, live, and play on was stolen from these indigenous tribes and we remember their connection to this region and the hardships they continue to endure. We honor these tribes. This land holds their cultural DNA and it is their Ancestors who are here and bring forth the knowledge of this place – the knowledge that comes from the land since time immemorial. We ask that in keeping with the tribes’ mission, that you honor the land by taking only what you need and to leave it better than you found it. As an organization and as individuals, we endeavor to find new ways to show respect and honor to the elders past and present and the people of these tribes.
If you got all the way here, thank you for reading the Wholistic Woman story. I am so glad you are here. Please let me know how we can help make your life better!
